Summer Programme 2015 Coach Outings

Note: Pick up times may vary due to location and will be confirmed on booking. Please arrive early as coach will leave promptly. It is unlikely, but sometimes necessary to change the destination, in the event of this we will give as much notice as possible. Booking is required and payment in advance is necessary.


August — Flatford and Beth Chatto Gardens

Wednesday 12th August Day Trip

The Hay WainFlatford in Suffolk – Explore Constable Country. First we visit Flatford which lies in the heart of the beautiful Dedham Vale. This charming hamlet was the inspiration for some of John Constable’s most famous pictures, for example, the Hay Wain, you can feel as if you are actually walking through one of his paintings. The National Trust run guided tours for those that wish to take part.

Discover Beth Chatto Gardens, Colchester. The coach will then take us to Beth Chatto Gardens. The Beth Chatto Gardens began in 1960. From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows, it has been transformed into an informal garden harmonising with the surrounding countryside. The gardens are an inspiration to anyone who visits them – the art of planting at it’s best.

Both venues have lunch and tea rooms. Cost £25.00 (coach £18.50 and entrance to Beth Chatto Gardens £6.50). For further details contact Margaret on 02089311987 or Sue 02084470379.

September — St Albans

Thursday 17th September. Day Trip to St Albans, visit Cathedral, lovely shops and eateries.

On the way there visit Butterfly World Project: Visit the tropical butterfly house, learn about the life cycle of the butterfly and its importance for the environment. Learn what butterfly – attracting plants to grow. See designer gardens and wild flower meadows. Tea shop and gift shop on site.

On the return journey we will call in at Ayletts Gardening Centre/Nurseries, one of the best in Hertfordshire.

Total cost £15.00 (coach £10.00 and entrance to Butterfly World Project £5.00). Book with Sue or Margaret.

October — Matinee Show Potters Bar

Thursday 1st October Matinee Show and Lunch.

12 O’clock lunch at The Old Manor, Potters Bar followed by 2pm matinee performance of Memories Are Made Of Hits. A breathtaking musical journey through the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Stunning costumes and brilliant choreography. Book with Sue or Margaret as soon as possible so that we can make necessary reservations.

Total cost in advance £23.00 including the show (coach £10.00 and show £13.00 ) 16 seats only on a first come first served basis. Lunch to be paid for individually on the day.

December — Xmas Lunch

Xmas Lunch at the Claddagh Ring, Hendon. Date , menu and further details TBC nearer time.
