Silver Sunday on 2 October 2022 was an overwhelming success at Colindale library with the number of seniors attending reaching 90+! It was certainly a packed event with the whole library occupied all afternoon.
Nila, Chair of Barnet Seniors’ Association along with volunteers arranged a varied and enjoyable afternoon with plenty of food and drink, talks and exercise from Age UK Barnet. Particular praise came from hearing cellist Oliver Gledhill with accompaniment from Hisayo Shimizo on the keyboard, and participating in the Bollywood dancing with Shatish Shah.
Many seniors commented on how much they enjoyed it, while some mentioned that it was their first big outing since shielding from Covid.
Attendees included The Mayor, Councillor Alison Moore who stayed all afternoon as well as Colindale and Burnt Oak Councillors. Thanks to many others for their involvement and effort including library staff, the library event volunteer, Hannah Richens, Head of Barnet Libraries, Alesia Carrington and Ella Goschalk both from Adults & Health in Barnet council. Everyone went above and beyond to make the event a success.
