Day trip to Rye and Hastings – 16 June 2016

All are welcome to join Barnet Seniors’ (55+) coach trip to two small coastal towns each with important historic connections. Rye, one of the Cinque Ports, is England’s best-preserved medieval town, once almost entirely surrounded by water and now 2 miles from the open sea. Town and shops within easy walking distance, also market, tea rooms and restaurants.

Then on to the old-fashioned sea-side town to Hastings, with well-preserved old town, fishing fleet and the remains of the first castle to be built in England by William and Conqueror.

Arrival time in Rye between 11 and 11.30am . We spend 2 hours in Rye then half an hour trip on to Hastings – free time in Hastings from 2pm until about 4.30pm home around 6.30 to 6.45 pm.
